It is not magical or required for you to take a group tour. Do not take a group tour - instead do the tour by yourself. Not sure if it will appeal to tourists or if it will be open during your visit but La Guinguette de Chartres in La Petite Venise/ Parc des Bords de l'Eure a short walk from Eglise St Pierre was voted the favorite restaurant by the Chartrains (residents of Chartres). ![]() Lovely riverside views from the Pont St Hilaire. įor lunch in the St Pierre neighborhood, Le saint Hilaire on the Rue St Hilaire. About a 20-minute walk to/from the train station and a 10-minute walk from the main cathédrale. And the picturesque neighborhood around it is a great place for escaping the sometimes overwhelming tourist crowds in and around the cathédrale. Built between the 10th and 14th centuries, gorgeous stained glass windows. There's a second Gothic church, the Eglise Saint Pierre, that is smaller and hardly visited but very impressive. ![]()
